Our Dental General Practice Residency (GPR) program has been in existence since 1975 and is the only dental general practice residency program in the San Joaquin Valley.

Here, post-graduate dental residents experience hospital-based dentistry, including medical conditions and situations that will test and increase their knowledge.

Externships are available to senior dental students from Commission on Dental Accreditation approved dental schools in the U.S. or Canada. Approximately 20 percent of the dental patients treated in our residency program are pediatric.

During the 12-month program, residents participate in general dentistry, oral and maxillofacial surgery, plastic surgery, internal medicine and anesthesia rotations at Community Regional Medical Center, Veterans Administration Central California Health Care System and select skilled nursing facilities. Residents also will complete a literature review paper. The GPR faculty regularly contributes journal articles and have made presentations at state and national meetings.
