The Patient and Family Advisory Council is a collaboration between patients, family members, Community staff, and healthcare providers — all of whom are dedicated to improving the experiences of patients and their families.
The feedback this volunteer group provides helps us develop care and services to better meet the needs of our community.
An advisor is a volunteer who helps improve the quality of care and service by providing feedback about their hospital experience. To be an advisor, you must have been a patient — or the family member of a patient — who has received care or treatment within the last year at Clovis Community Medical Center, Community Cancer Institute, or Community Regional Medical Center.
Advisors share stories and experiences in discussion groups. They tell us what it’s like to be a patient and how we can improve the care we provide. We look for advisors who reflect the diverse experiences of the patients and families we serve.
What’s most important to your role as an advisor is your experience as a patient or family member. Our team will provide you with any training you may need.
"My initial purpose for becoming an advisor was to advocate for improved care within the Community hospitals for my mom and others like her who had Alzheimer’s. Little did I know there was a much bigger purpose in being part of the advisory team!
I learned how to advocate for care, and it's an honor to be able to now use that voice to ensure every patient’s experience leaves them feeling heard and cared for."
"I believe in a growth mindset, which led me to the Patient & Family Advisory Council. It only takes a handful of caring and committed citizens to support improvement.
PFAC provides a remarkable opportunity for dedicated community members to advocate and encourage what can be regarded as big positive changes."
“As a former employee of Community for 20+ years and now a current patient of the Community Cancer Institute, I am honored to be a member of this council. I’m excited about our mission, which is to provide an exceptional patient experience in every aspect of cancer care delivery.
This mission is very dear to my heart, and I’m dedicated to donating my time, voice and expertise toward achieving these goals.”
