Get With The Guidelines puts the expertise of the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association to work for hospitals nationwide, helping ensure patient care is aligned with the latest research and evidence-based guidelines.

Community Regional has received this award every year since 2018, showing the hospital’s ongoing dedication to improving stroke care by promoting consistent adherence to the latest scientific treatment guidelines, ultimately saving more lives and reducing disabilities.

“This achievement is really a testament to the amazing team that we have right here in the Valley,” said Kristine Aubry, director of neurosciences at Community Regional. “At the end of the day, our goal is to ensure our patients get the high-quality care they deserve so they can live longer, healthier lives.”

A higher level of stroke care for Type 2 diabetic patients

Every two minutes, an American adult with diabetes is hospitalized for a stroke according to the American Stroke Association.

Community Regional's stroke team also received the American Heart Association’s Target: Type 2 Diabetes™ Honor Roll award for the second time. This ensures patients with Type 2 diabetes, who might be at higher risk for complications, receive top-notch care during stroke treatment.

“We are incredibly pleased to recognize Community for its commitment to caring for patients with stroke,” said Steven Messe, M.D., volunteer chairperson of the American Heart Association Stroke System of Care Advisory Group, and professor of neurology and director of fellowships of neurology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. “Participation in Get With The Guidelines is associated with improved patient outcomes, fewer readmissions and lower mortality rates — a win for health care systems, families and communities.”
